~Color Coded~

I love color so what better way to show some color love than having some of my Smash Book's pages dedicated to a certain color?!

Purple

Earlier this year I did a sewing color swap and both of our colors were purple! I took picture of the beautiful gifts I received, Max snooping through the paper, what I sent and a card from the lovely lady that sent me the package. I finished the page off with a title in purple and a pretty purple fabric flower. I love how most of the color is in the photos and that I was able to create a 'one color' look without having to use tons of magazine clippings- defnitely a change!

Blue

This page is just blue everything! I save a lot of random stuff so I can smash it later one and I noticed that I had a ton of blue items. I couldnt' resist dedicating a page to just blue!

Pink

For these pages I took a 'pink' cue from the left hand page and decided to make everything pinkish. This is extremely color coded, but there's definitely more pink than any other color. I brought in orange, yellow and light browns to accent the pink.

Purple

This week's layout was super quick and easy to do. I've been pretty busy lately, but didn't want to completely neglect my Smash Book so I just decided to go with a color I love- purple! I used a random tarrot card I found in a book, a photo of a flower in my backyard, a saying that came from jewlery, sticker letters and a cut out from a magazine with some washi tape on the corners.

August 3rd: Journal It - Incorporate journaling in your design. Whether it's on a piece of paper or directly on the page, just write!
August 10th: The Great Outdoors - Takes some pictures outside. It can be anything from flowers to animals or really just whatever you can find!
August 17th: Pet Love- Dedicate a page just to your pet or just any animal. Take some pictures and write down some of your favorite memories.
August 24th: Stickers- Incorporate stickers into you page's theme.
August 31st: My Favorites- Journal about your favorite televisions shows, movies, books and more!

Have any ideas for Smashing Saturday themes? Let me know in the comments and I'll credit/link to you and your blog in the post!

The above is totally optional, but I know sometimes that I get in a rut and don't smash for weeks at a time. What helps me keep going is having a 'theme' to smash! Whether it's my dog, my favorite color or just flowers in my backyard, having a topic to smash helps me get started.

I wrote what I'll be smashing and posting for the next five Saturdays. Feel free to join in on that week's theme, but you definitely don't have to, it's just an option! Anything Smash goes in Smashing Saturday!

Firmoo Sunglasses Review

I was contacted by Firmoo Global Online Optical Store to review another pair of glasses. I was so pleased with the first pair I received that I jumped at this wonderful opportunity. This time around I decided to go with sunglasses!

I chose #SD2299 and tinted my lenses gray at 80%.
My lenses are 1.57 index lenses with anti-radiation and a UV coating.

Like I mentioned in my last review, I'm definitely not a huge fan of going into a store and trying to pick out glasses. I always feel rushed and overwhelmed by the thousands of pairs staring back at me. I think this is why I love Firmoo so much, I can chose my glasses from my own home at my own pace. I'll look at a pair and the next day come pack and see if I still like it. I love that I'm able to be one hundred percent sure that I'm going to love my new frames!

Firmoo has such a wide variety of stylish glasses for an affordable price. At first I was a little iffy about ordering from offline because I didn't know how they'd look on my face, but Firmoo offers a Virtual Try-On System that hasn't failed me yet! All I had to do was upload a picture of myself and then I was able to see the glasses on me, it's perfect!

I love that Firmoo puts so much thought into the products that you'll need when you get your glasses home. I mean not only do you get a soft fabric case, but also a hard sturdy case to protect your glasses. You also get a handy cleaning cloth and (this is the part I love) a screwdriver key chain and an extra screw. Seriously?! This is genius! All I have to do is put this in a safe place and now I don't have to worry if something comes loose or falls out because I have the tools and supplies to fix it. Very thoughtful, Firmoo!

Not going to lie- I felt pretty silly taking pictures of myself wearing sunglasses inside, but it is WAY too hot out to go outside. Every time I do my camera lense fogs up and my hair takes up the entire shot. So here's my sunglasses pictures from inside my air conditioned room!

Now let's just have a quick chat about my face and how almost all sunglasses look horrible on it. Seriously. I never wear sunglasses because I think I look silly. No matter what the style, they always look stupid, but Firmoo somehow has made a pair of sunglasses that don't make me look like a psycho, YAY!

I really love how they're a little on the big side, but not totally over-the-top huge. They're sturdy, no scratches and do a great job at protecting my eyes from the sun. I also like how the sides of the sunglasses aren't super thick. Sometimes with glasses the sides will be so thick that I can't really use my peripheral vision, seriously, not really a great thing to experience while driving. But I don't have to worry about that with these glasses, woo!

Want your own pair of super awesome glasses? Well, Firmoo is nice enough to have the First Pair Free program! They also have a LUCKY DRAW that can happen at the free glasses page where one person is randomly selected to win free glassess and free shipping each day, how awesome?!

I decided to make a tradition out of the goofy picture at the end of each glasses review...

Shirt: Limited Edition Kennedy Band Tee for The Maine
Silver Headband: Forever 21
Flower Headband: Vera Bradley
Bracelet: PacSun
Scarf: Charming Charlie
Sunglasses: Firmoo #SD2299

~Collage Love~

This week's optional theme was to do a collage!
One of my favorite things to do is to make collages. I just love that you can throw some of your favorite things together and you end up with a beautiful piece of art!

Here's a collage that I made in May.

I included some random things I found around the house, photos, things from magazines, buttons, tape, stickers and more!

I really love how collages look when stuff overlaps.
It kind of makes your eye travel all over the page.

These are the pages I did this week!
I found 'Paradise' in a magazine and it's absolutely perfect since I've been listening to the song 'Paradise' by Coldplay a lot lately. I used the blues and greens from that word and tried to carry it throughout the pages.

These are the first pages in my Smash book so I wanted to just put a whole bunch of stuff that I like on them.

I used all sorts of things on these pages: the elephant is cut out from a greeting card, a fortune cookie paper, stuff from magazines and a picture/quote I printed off from the internet.

I really love how this collage reminds me of summertime and reflects things I like. I think this is one of my favorite layouts I've done!

I buy all of my supplies from local craft stores. (Micheal's, Archiver's, JoAnn).

-SMASH odds and ends package
-Dear Lizzy cardboard cut-out stickers
-Hello Kitty washi tape
-A lot of stuff from magazines
-Photos I took of my artwork

July 20th: Collage Love - Collage two pages with photos, quotes, buttons, etc.
July 27th: Color Coded - Just pick one color and do a page using only that color in stickers, photos, etc.

Product Review: Easy Canvas Prints

I was approached by Easy Canvas Prints to do a review of a 16x20 canvas and I immediatily jumped at the opportunity! I have tons of pictures just sitting on my computer or that I printed on boring photo paper only to have sit in albums, so I thought this was the perfect time to put one of those special pictures up on the wall!

Of course I chose one with my sweet Max to go onto my canvas. I've had this picture for a while and it's my all time favorite of him. It captures his sweetness that's mixed with a touch of mischief. Also those big brown eyes can melt anyone's heart!

The process of making my canvas was super simple and there's tons of ways you can personalize your canvas. You get to pick the size (illustrated over an average sized couch so you can picture how the sizing will look in your home.) Another option you can chose it the depth of the canvas and the color of the sides or if you want the photo to wrap around to the sides or you can have the mirrored image. I chose black and I love how it looks! It really pops when you see the canvas from the side.

I also had the option to chose a photograph from not only my computer, but from instagram or facebook too- which was awesome! After you chose your picture they let you know immediately the quality of your photo to give you a better idea on how it will look on cavas from poor, fair to good. Luckily my photo was labled as good!

They have auto fit, but you can also zoom in and move your photo around so you can have your subject/scene fitted into the middle. This was perfect for me because my photo wasn't exactly in the middle, so I was able to move it a bit so it ended up looking centered.

You also have the option of making your photo black and with or sepia. I just went with the regular color of my photo since Max is black and white already. I definitely love those options though!

Here's the original photo that I put onto canvas.
It was taken with a Cannon EOS Rebel T3i.

Here's how the photo came out on canvas.

Max has dark black fur which, in my past experiences, doesn't print well on paper. It just comes out as a black blurr. I was pleasantly surprised that you can see the little hairs on his face and that it's pretty clear. However there are some spots that are just completely black and shiny, but I think that's more of the pictures fault than a bad printing job. But, it also depends how you look at it, like if I were in look at it from the side, there's not as much glare. The background (carpet) behind Max also turned out a bit red/pink, but it's not as noticible when you don't see the original photo and the canvas side-by-side.

Here's a glimpse at the side. I love the black edging! It really makes it pop from the wall and it perfectly matches his fur. Since we have just white-ish/beige walls the black on the side really helps separate the canvas from the boring wall.

I would probably order another canvas from Easy Canvas Prints, I'm pretty happy with mine! It was really easy to create, shipped quickly, but also safely and the staff was extremely helpful and kind.

My only tip would be to watch out on how much black/dark spots are on your photograph because it might not come out as sharp/clear as you're hoping for.

It also gets Max's stamp of approval! Woof!

A huge thank you goes out to Easy Canvas Prints!

~A Day in the Life~

This week seems to have flown by, taking with it my Smash Book time. I did this layout a few weeks ago about a trip my mom and I took to this adorable tea room! It was pretty far away, but definitely worth it.

I just used pictures I took on my phone and then journaled about the day.

I love using cute little stickers to mark the date and just add aroable little sayings that are relevant to the day.
I also used a pretty big sticker in this one, I just thought the bright floral match the feel of the resturaunt.

I absolutely loved their strawberry lemonade, so with the picture that I snapped, I cut out the background and just had the drink pop up from the bottom of the page. I love it!

I usually go dash-outlining crazy on my smash pages. It's just relaxing for me and I think it just really finishes off the pages. I did multiple dash-outline colors around the big floral sticker and around all the other stickers and my drink on the page.

I buy all of my supplies at my local crafts stores (Micheal's, JoAnn, Archiver's).
Here, I'll list links where you can find them online. The links will take you to Amazon, Blue Moon Scrapbooking and Staples.

Paradise

paradise by Coldplay on Grooveshark

I'm not much of a Coldplay gal, but boy do I love this song.
It's like I listened to it with new ears this week.

I'll be going out of town for a few days at the end of the Summer and I'm one of those people that just wants to stay home. Stay around familiar surroundings, people and so on.

I'm scared.
They're my family, I know them, but it's just not home.
I'll miss my family that's back here when I leave.
I'll miss my bed, my dog, my schedule of watching Buffy every night before bed (what can I say- vampire slaying calms me, ha!)

Silly as some things may seem, I think I take so much of it for granted.
Not just the material; like Netflix or my car, but the feeling of just being at home.
Of knowing that I have a place of my own that I can come back to every night.

Knowing that no matter the season, the fields will still be wide open, that I can still see the sky laying above them.
That I can feel the wind blowing through my hair and see the birds float through the sky.
It's a comfort I take advantage of.
I need to try to realize it more often, not just because I'll be leaving soon.

Even though some of my memories in this town have been less than ideal,
it's my home,
my paradise.
