Waiting on Wednesday (9)

Waiting on Wednesday is host by Jill over at Break the Spine

Deb Caletti
Release Date:
April 19 2011

Clara’s relationship with Christian is intense from the start, and like nothing she’s ever experienced before. But what starts as devotion quickly becomes obsession, and it’s almost too late before Clara realizes how far gone Christian is--and what he’s willing to do to make her stay. Now Clara has left the city—and Christian—behind. No one back home has any idea where she is, but she still struggles to shake off her fear. She knows Christian won’t let her go that easily, and that no matter how far she runs, it may not be far enough....

I love Deb Caletti so I'm really excited to read this. Not only is Stay by a great author, but it sounds like a good emotion roller coaster read. April is just too far away, my little hands can't wait that long to get a hold of this book!

Who is this handsome man pictured to the right you may ask? Well, this is the talented, handsome and awesomely Scottish James McAvoy. Yum!

Not only is he easy on the eyes, but he's in actual good movies that are for a diverse group of people. From Narnia to Wanted to the amazing Becoming Jane and Penelope. He's even been in the academy award-winning film Atonement! Who can say they have had that wide of variety of films that were successful? Who?!

First we would go see Inception since it is pretty much the only guy-ish movie I can tolerate. Well and the fact that Mr. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in it. *swoon*

Since he's European (how flipping awesome is that!?) we would go to some Scottish restaurant and order food that is native to Scotland. He would talk about all of the crazy places that his acting career has taken him while I drooled over his wicked Scottish accent. I would never get bored of what he was saying because his Scottish accent would lull me out of boredom!

Ahh, he's the perfect date... if only he wasn't married and almost double my age haha!

My Ultimate Pet Peeve

Last night while I was on my facebook account and found that one of my friends wrote a major point that happens in Mockingjay. Don't worry I won't say. Anyways, this is my biggest pet peeve. Spoilers! Why, oh why do people get joy from telling me endings to books?! My facial expression, probably. Covering my ears and singing, most likely. Since I can't make a law having these people walk around with giant, flashing signs above their head that say, "Warning: I ruin books!"
Anyways here's a list of all the things I think people who spoil books should have to go through.

Pulling out hair Pictures, Images and Photos

1. You stub your baby toe
2. Burn your tongue on hot coffee so for the next 5 hours everything tastes funny
3. Get a paper cut on that annoying place on your knuckle where the band aide always falls off
4. Have a piece missing from furniture your trying to assemble
5. That you leave your 50% off coupon at home instead of brining it with you to the store
6. You loose your phone charger when there's only 10% of battery left
7. Smudge on your sunglasses in that perfectly annoying spot that just won't wipe off
8. Try to go to sleep, but your pillow is too lumpy
9. Get calls from annoying telemarketers
10 .Your bookmark falls out and you loose your place

Okay now that all of that is out of my system I feel a little bit better...

Paul Wesley Pictures, Images and Photos

NOW I feel completely better! *swoon*
Somehow all of my troubles just disappeared! Poof!

A Book to Me...

A book to me is my escape from the real world. It's everything I hold dear to my heart put on paper and set in binding. My bookcase is my life on shelves. Holding the good and bad memories of the past years of my life. I vicariously live through the characters without fear or worries. My world carries judgement and heartache, but books take me away from that. They give me smiles, hope and friends.

On a regular basis I'm criticized about how defensive I am of my reading to people who say they are just fake people in a stupid book. But what they don't see is how much more lies beneath those words on a page. These characters are brave, intelligent and kind people. Something that the majority of people in this world lack. They are someone for all of us to look up to.

Lost Inside a book Pictures, Images and Photos

It's not only the characters that draw me into a story it's also, of course, what's written. I have a journal I keep of all the quotes that have touched me while I was reading. It's like the author has literally been inside my brain and describes how I feel in words that I can't express. Everything written in that journal are all the things I can't say or all the things that I don't know how to put into words. Once I read them it helps me understand a little bit more of myself. Books are apart of me. The characters are apart of me along with the struggles they go through.

I know this is a lot more serious than what I usually write, but let's just say being home schooled doesn't keep the bullies away. They have their sources. That's why I love my blog. It's unknown to everyone at my school. Along with my mom this is my safe haven, and I thank you for that.

So now my question is:

What is a book to you?

In My Mailbox (3)

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren

Last week I didn't post an In My Mailbox thanks to my oh so lovely internet provider. So there's double the book goodness this week! Oh, and warning: There's a lot more than usual. I went to the Smart Chicks Tour (my trip) on Thursday so I got a ton of books there so I could get them signed and well... the stack of others is just because I'm obsessed. Let's just say me not having a job has me doing a lot of chores around the house. (Mom I sense you rolling your eyes. I'll get around to them, promise :D )

-Vanished: When Lightning Strikes; Code Name Cassandra by Meg Cabot
-Ruined: How to Ruin a Summer Vacation; How to Ruin My Teenage Life; How to Ruin You Boyfriend's Reputation by Simone Elkeles
-City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
-City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
-Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
-Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
-Rich and Mad by William Nicholson
-The DUFF by Kody Keplinger (my review)
-The Ghost and the Goth by Stacey Kade

(From Smart Chicks Tour)

-Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
-Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr
-The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong
-Art Geeks and Prom Queens by Alyson Noel
-Kisses from Hell by Kristin Cast, Alyson Noel, Kelley Armstrong, Richelle Mead, Francesca Lia Block
-The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
-Dead Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan
-Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce
-Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

-Looking for Alaska by John Green
-Take Me There by Susane Colasanti
-Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

I'm really excited to read all of these! I know there's quite a few so next weeks post will have a lot less books... that are probably from the library :)

Smart Chicks Tour

I was lucky enough to go to the Smart Chicks Kick It Tour this week with my mom. I had such an incredibly awesome time there! I almost didn't make it since I found out the tour was in my area only an hour before it was about to start. (yeah that's right only 60 minuets so get my patootie in a car and get there ASAP)

My mom and I arrived at the book shop that was hosting the tour, but found out it was actually being held down the road in some nice, fancy pancy hall. So we ran (okay we both aren't really athletic, so we power walked looking pretty weird) back to the car and drove on over.

We got there just in time to listen to the six amazing authors talk about their writing and just lives in general. It felt like I was among friends I'd known for years just listening to their stories... so awesome!

Later on in the talk Kelley Armstrong hosted the game that asked to pick one of the series to decide who you wanted to marry, shag and push off a cliff. SO HILARIOUS! One girl went up there and said she wanted to shag the entire bad guy army from Melissa Marr's books!! Everyone cracked up!

I was lucky enough to meet all of the lovely ladies. Seriously, probably the nicest people I have ever met. They were so modest and sweet! I talked to Jackson Pearce for a little bit. It was so cool! I hope I didn't seem too much like total dork, she's just so awesome!

Melissa Marr and Carrie Ryan had bookmarks that they gave away (you can see them on the table in the photo) They were signed too!
Hmm maybe for a contest in the future...

The last table had two of my favorite authors of ALL TIME. I couldn't believe how sweet they were! I talked to Carrie about just how much a adored her books. I was so happy to meet her. Carrie is awesome, simple as that. She was just so humble about her success with her books and was saying that it means so much to hear positive feedback from her fans! I was thinking... whoever doesn't give you positive feedback is crazy!

I got all of my 9 books (yes 9, I went overboard!) signed by each of the awesome authors. This day definitely made my 2010! I'll have up the next signing I go to (which I think is in November) with Laurie Halse Anderson! *squeal*

*Note- My phone definitely doesn't have the greatest camera, especially for farther away shots, my apologies.
-I was hesitant to put pictures up with me in them (I got pictures with all the authors) because I kind of like the whole anonymous nerd in disguise aspect of it.

Follow Friday (1)

Book Blogger Hop

When you write reviews, do you write them as you are reading or wait until you have read the entire book?

Most of the time I write my review immediately after I finish the book. That way what I liked (or didn't like) is fresh in my mind. Although on occasion I have wrote a review a week after I finished, but I only do that for books I really enjoy and just have to get the word out about how phenomenal the book is. I think if I wrote the review while I was reading would take away from the adventures and environment the author is trying to put me in.

To join the fun and make now book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:

  1. Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Host { Parajunkee.com } and any one else you want to follow on the list
  2. Follow our Featured Bloggers - www.bookcouture.blogspot.com
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say hi in your comments
  5. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can
  6. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  7. If you want to show the link list, just follow the link below the entries and copy and paste it within your post!

Happy Friday!

This week's question:

What is your high fashion book
--translation--best book cover ever!

Come on, how could you not LOVE this cover!? It captured my attention as soon as I saw it. I adore the girl grabbing at her head looking like she's just torn and suffering. Her dress is just beautiful! It's a black and white photo, but the black of the dress and hair just pop! The background is even breath taking. The leafless trees on the water's edge with clouds painting the sky along with a few birds in the distance. The writing is even perfect! Gosh, is there anything I can find that I don't like... uh no! This picture has everything I could ask for in a cover: simple beauty.

Friday's Finest (11)

Friday's Finest is hosted by the lovely Justine and Steff over at a bookful

"A little kid asks my dad why that man is chopping down the tree.

Dad: He's not chopping it down. He's saving it. Those branches were long dead from disease. All plants are like that. By cutting off the damage you make it possible for the tree to grow again. You watch - by the end of summer, this tree will be the strongest on the block."

Laurie Halse Anderson

I love how metaphors can sometimes mean different things to different people. This metaphor is perfect. To me this means sometimes we have to remove the bad out of our life to move onto the good, to grow. Those of us who have been through hell and have overcome it, we become the strongest. We will survive.

Thursday's Playlist: The DUFF

So this week for Thursday's Playlist
I found this site that you could make your own playlist and post it.
Apparently I was living under a rock because when I mentioned my awesome new discovery I was looked at like I grew a second head. Anyways... sorry for the last two posts that just listed the songs, hopefully this will be easier if you wanted to listen to them.

This week's book is The DUFF by Kody Keplinger. Bianca and Westley's relationship was spontaneous and wild. All of these songs, I thought, did a good job reflecting the free feeling of the book. They are quite powerful songs with some talking about love or just being a teenager. You can check out my review for The DUFF here.

The Big 2-Oh!

Call Me Crazy has finally reached the big two oh in followers! Yey!

Okay so I know that doesn't seem like much, but to me that's awesome! I can't wait to get thirty now!

I just wanted to say a quick thank you so all of my amazing followers and just say that you guys are so awesome!

So my goal for followers next month is to be up to 30! *crosses fingers* Let's see if it can happen!

10 Things

For those of you who don't know I am a first year home schooler who's a senior in high school. If you are thinking to yourself "uhh isn't that a problem since you are the most easily distracted person in the universe?" Well to answer your question yes, this is a problem. Especially when I see an animated image while surfing the internet and think to myself, "WOW I'd rather be doing that than working on stupid school." So this is what happens when it's rainy outside, I have schoolwork and am an obsessed blogger.

I present to you:

So instead of doing anyone of these groovy things I'm stuck in my room finding X thanks to some middle-aged man back in the day who couldn't find anything better to do with his time (probably because A) blogger wasn't around or B) they didn't have .gif images) So once again thank you balding man for making me find hypotenuses, X's and learning iambic pentameter which causes me to talk like a fool for the next 24 hours because I'm stressing and un-stressing all the words that come out of my mouth. Now back to work. Joy...

Wednesday's Obsession will be posted this evening.

*Note: Hi Mom, I totally slaved over all of my school work and think Mr. Hypotenuse is a genius and I thank him for all of his wonderful musings. I was completely kidding up there.
