Review- Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison

Beth has always been known as the "Beast" to her classmates and is tormented on a daily basis by Colby and his friends. She is crazy tall with wild hair and pimples all over her face. The only two allies she has are her mom, who loves her with all her heart, and Simon her best friend. But suddenly everything changes when her choir is sent off to compete in Switzerland over the summer and Beth isn't the Beast anymore due to a new transformation. While overseas she meets Derek, who's in an all boys' choir from Canada, that is adored by all the competitors, and they are both drawn to each other immediately. But what about Simon back home? And what is Derek always trying to keep Beth in the dark about?

The book was pretty much impossible to put down, I finished it within a day. The plot was just so intriguing, I mean who wouldn't want to go away to a foreign country and meet an extremely charming boy with a cute accent? What kept me reading was what Derek was trying to hide from Beth and if their summertime fling could survive once they got back home. But Derek wasn't the only boy in the picture. Her best friend since preschool, Simon, has been there through all the bullying back when she used to be the "Beast" and he has a confession of his own. It was really hard to decide what guy you wanted her to stay loyal to throughout the book... Derek the dark and mysterious artist or Simon the safe and geeky friend.

My favorite character was definitely the main character, Beth, who was very easy to relate to that you felt like you were in her shoes. Morrison did an amazing job giving Beth a unique out look that it was impossible not to like her. When she goes off on her endless worrying thoughts it's pretty funny, I even caught myself saying, "Wow, I do that all the time. Do I really sound like that?" She grows tremendously throughout the book. I adored her.
