Waiting On Wednesday 4

DUFF Designated Ugly Fat Friend
By: Kody Keplinger
Published: 7 September 2010

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn't think she's the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She's also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her "Duffy," she throws her Coke in his face. But things aren't so great at home right now. Desperate for a distraction, Bianca ends up kissing Wesley. And likes it. Eager for escape, she throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with Wesley. Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out that Wesley isn't such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she's falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.

Friday's Finest 3

Hosted By Steff & Justine at A Bookful of Thoughts

I know I still haven't posted a book review yet and that is probably because I'm worried my reviews won't be written well. I really enjoyed The Clearing by Heather Davis, it was just amazing. So I would really like to do a review on that and numerous other books I've loved. So as soon as everything at school settles, my first review will be posted.

Now on to Fridays meme...
These are short quotes so I put two of them up...

"My dear, time is the one thing you should pay attention to. One day, you'll find there's never enough of it."
-Aunt Mae; The Clearing by Heather Davis

"No boy ever makes you special. You just are."
-Aunt Mae; The Clearing by
Heather Davis

Like I said very short, but also important to know. It left an impact on me so I thought I'd share. Check out this book for sure though, it's a timeless love story that's beautifuly told by Heather Davis.

Waiting on Wednesday 3

Hosted By Breaking the Spine
The Tension of Opposites
By Kristina McBride
Release Date: May 25th

When Tessa's best friend Noelle disappears right before the start of eighth grade, Tessa's life changes completely--she shies away from her other friends and stops eating in the cafeteria. Now, two years later, Noelle has escaped her captivity and is coming home, in one piece but not exactly intact, and definitely different. Tessa's life is about to change as she tries to revive the best-friendship the two girls had shared before Noelle--now Elle--was kidnapped; puts up a futile resistance to the charming new guy at school; pursues her passion for photography while trying to build the bravado to show her photos to the public; and tries to balance her desire to protect and shelter Elle with the necessity to live her own life and put herself first.

24 Hour Read-A-Thon...

Unfortunatley I couldn't participate in the 24 hour Read-A-Thon because of the stupid ACT, really bad timing... anyways I'm still going to do some of the Mini Challenges just for fun.

If the Cover Fits Mini-challenge is hosted by
"It's time for another mini-challenge. This time around I am challenging you to find book covers that fit the following categories:
Disturbing, Vibrant, Beautiful, Scary & Moving
Make a post with your choices. You may include the images directly in the post or just post the title of the book and link to the book cover on another site. Post a comment when you've completed the challenge and be sure to include a link to your challenge post."

(Disturbing in a good way)

Friday's Finest... A Day Late

Friday's Finest is a new meme hosted by Steff & Justine from A Bookful of Thoughts.

~Post a quote that really stuck to you after reading it in a book.
~Make sure it isn't a spoiler!
~If you'd like, expand on what you think it means and why you chose it.

"Like driving along a bumpy road and losing control of the steering wheel, tossing you--just a tad--off the road. The wheels kick up some dirt, but you're able to pull it back. Yet no matter how hard you try to drive straight, something keeps jerking you to the side. You have so little control over anything anymore. And at some point, the struggle becomes too much--too tiring--and you consider letting go. Allowing tragedy... or whatever... to happen."

— Jay Asher, Thirteen Reasons Why

Read-A-Thon Activity Day 4

Hosted By Teens Read & Write

1.) Is there at least one book on your growing TBR that has been there forever and (if you were honest) you could give up without to much trauma?
The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

2.) What is your latest "Gotta Have It" book? (that you can get once you've given up that one in question #1)
Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey

3.) What are your classics - you're 'comfort books' that you never want to give up?
Twlight Saga, When It Happens, Perfect Chemistry, Leaving Paradise, Hush Hush & Sea Change

4.) What are your best tips for keeping that TBR in check?
Don't keep buying books or getting them from the library until your TBR is read. If you do, you'll keep getting distracted and never get to reading them.

Sorry I know this is a short blog post and I haven't done any of the other days in the Read-A-Thon, but I plan on catching up on them either Friday or Saturday. I have the ACT on Saturday, which explains my short, or lack there of blog posting. So as soon as that disaster is over I'll be back!

Waiting On Wednesday 2

Things I Know About Love
By: Kate LeVann
Released: June 22, 2010

(okay for some reason this deleted and I'm just re-adding it on today, Saturday. I'm really not good at this blogging thing...)

1. People don't always tell you the truth about how they feel.
2. Nothing that happens between two people is guaranteed to be private.
3. I don't know if you ever get over having your heart broken.

Livia Stowe's past experiences with love have been nothing but disappointing, but all that is about to change. After years of illness, she's boarding a plane for the first time to spend the summer in Princeton, New Jersey, with her brother who's studying abroad. This Brit is determined to make the most of her American summer and to record every moment of it in her private blog.
America is everything that Livia's ever dreamed of. And then she meets Adam.
Swept up in the promise of romance and the magical New York City that Adam shows her, Livia is smitten, but with all she knows about love, is Livia really ready to risk her heart again?

This sounds like my kind of book! I honestly can't wait until June!! Geez June has everything amazing coming out that month, Eclipise, more books and this! yesss

I haven't been on my blog for what seems like a long time (two days I believe). So since I stayed home from school today, I figured why not blog!? And it definitley helps get my mind of things. So perfect :)

Book Survey

1. What was the last book you bought?
Well I bought a couple...
-Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
-City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
-The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
-Anatomy of a Boyfriend by Daria Snadowsky
**Books I bought after reading them from the library**
-When It Happens by Susane Colasanti
-Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
-Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles

2. Name a book you have read MORE than once.
I read a lot of books over again, but most recently New Moon

3. Has a book ever fundamentally changed the way you see life?
Absolutely without a doubt yes

4. How do you choose a book? e.g. by cover design and summary, recommendations or reviews?
Summary and reviews. I won't read a book if it doesn't have well developed characters and if the narrator doesn't have a strong voice. I love feeding off of other people's opinions of books, I usually tend to agree with them, but sometimes not. So I go with my gut sometimes based on the summary.

5. Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction?
Well I like young adult realistic fiction and fantasy.

6. What’s more important in a novel - beautiful writing or a gripping plot?
Beautiful writing, a plot could be completely original and outstanding, but if it's not executed properly it's not really worth while.

7. Most loved/memorable character (character/book).
Hannah Baker/ Clay.... from Thirteen Reasons Why. I put both of them down because I felt like Hannah was living through Clay to tell her story to us after her death. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but still that's my answer :)

8. Which book or books can be found on your nightstand/coffee table at the moment?
Nightstand: Book of Luke by Jenny O'Connel
Coffee Table: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

8. What was the last book you read, and when was it?
Thirteen Reasons Why; yesterday, I needed to clear my head, but when I started reading it I couldn't put it down so I finished it in one sitting.

9. Have you ever given up on a book halfway in?
No, once I start a book I HAVE to finish it. I have, however, stopped reading a book and started another one. Like Thirteen Reasons Why, it was "calling" to me to read, which was just what I needed to hear at the time. So this led to me drifting away from The Adoration of Jenna Fox, now I'm onto the Book of Luke, maybe... it honestly depends on my mood. So to answer the question no, but I have stopped and came back to finish it.

10. Can you recommend a good book? If so, what is it?
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, everyone should read this, everyone. It explains a lot, and will stop so much before it's to late... READ IT

11. Is there a book you haven’t read, and should have?
Well Tom Sawyer, because I totally flunked that test... but in "real life" I should read The Host, I keep hearing good things about it, but I'm afraid that I'll be let down because I have The Twilight Saga on such a high pedestal that it can never be reached.

Friday's Finest

Friday's Finest is a new meme hosted by Steff & Justine from A Bookful of Thoughts.

~Post a quote that really stuck to you after reading it in a book.
~Make sure it isn't a spoiler!
~If you'd like, expand on what you think it means and why you chose it.

"Laurie would tell you that she's scared. She's afraid that she won't get into the right school, or that she and Adrian will have to go to different schools. And I'm not saying that those fears aren't real for her, but with me it's something different. I'm more afraid that maybe I'll get into the right school, maybe after that I'll get the right job, and that from the outside everything will look great, but I'll never really do anything, or think anything special. And even if it all looks good on the surface, I'll know I've failed, and not at something unimportant like school, but at life."
